Oil on Canvas
Beauty of Oneness 2020
I remember I bought this piece of blank canvas at an art supplier warehouse in Brick lane, London around 2012 , the journey back home was already a mission, carrying it by myself all the way up to north London via mind the gap. I just left it in my room, it was sitting there for years without being touched. In 2017 a black and white photograph caught my eyes which was posted on Instagram by Iris Covetbook. I said to myself yes, this was going to be the one, I needed to make this happen and threw it on that blank canvas. I was very intrigued by the concept / message of the photography that demonstrates equality , diversity in fashion and that today’s models challenge traditional norms, it helps in shaping a new point of view of what beautiful means. January 2018 haled the rough sketch and yeah it looked rough indeed, looking at it from distance the figures became even bigger and bigger, anyway I started painting it in December 2018, early 2019 after the 5th figure I just stopped. Months and months passed by actually the whole year so quickly, here we go now in 2020 when I have what seemed like all the time to finish it off and make these 21 beautiful individuals in my own way. I have left a few figures faceless to make the viewers wonder and encourage them to imagine, convey the lines , the features of the characters by themselves. By looking at the final piece I hope they can clearly see how much my skills have evolved along the way that gives another, uniqueness to the piece. Just an interesting fact, number 21 is an inspiration and creative self-expression number. The 21's energy is optimistic, and enthusiastic that it tends to inspire others. I feel like this number truly represents myself , the way who really I am.From my point of view, We are all beautiful the way we are. There is only one race on the planet it’s called human race , there is no separation, we are all the same we are just Energy. In human form we are experiencing life in a brief moment in time, so let’s just be who we really are, free spirits, unique individuals.
